Alpine Linux packaging as an embedded system distribution strategy
2019-10-11, 22:05–22:50, Metalab - Mainroom

This talk will present some of the benefits of the Alpine Package Manager 'apk', and show how it can be used to build custom repositories.
Later we will go in the details of Alpine's "Diskless Mode", and explore its use as a packaging strategy for auto-updating, stateless embedded systems.

Now that toxcore and toxic recently were accepted into the official Alpine repositories, we will show how this was done.
Previous experiments and proof-of-concepts about building the ToxBlinkenwall/EWindow software as a bootable image with Alpine tools will be discussed.
